Alarm won't let car start

just bought a 2001 Corolla LE for son for college. Clean car in good condition. Drove first few days fine but now it won't start. Was just given a car key. There is a blue LED light on lower dashboard by left leg, goes on and off. Obviously car has an alarm. At first it seemed battery was dead. Jumped it from another car and it started. But now won't even do that. Car wont turn over even though battery is charged. Plus now the parking lights blink when ignition is turned off. There is an alarm siren on back panel of engine but that has been disconnected. The car right now is dead weight in my driveway. Have not seen a reset button anywhere, just the blue LED light. Anyway to get it going to maybe bring to an alarm shop to disconnect the damn thing.

Yeah, depending on how the alarm is wiring into the system - could be a simple disconnect to significant amount of rewiring - to get it to work correctly.

Blue LED sounds loke an aftermarket job - hopefully the alarm shop has some good diagnostic skills, as it could potential be a nightware to figure out. Some vendors like Ravelco like to bury "extra" wires (may or may not be connected to anything) within the harnesses - to prevent someone from bypassing the alarm system.

I'd say take it to an Stereo shop and have them remove the alarm, fix it or put a new one in, looks like it's gone faulty and whoever owned the car chose to just cut the wires on the siren rather than pay for the fix. The guy who owned my old civic did the same thing, eventually we ended taking it out because it would screw with the ignition.
