Hello.

hello. my name is sam and i have been an avid lurker on this site for a little over a year now. it all started when i got my 99 corolla ve. but i got tired of just lurking and figured i would post and introduce my self and say hello.

as i said i drive a 99 ve. it was 3 speed but has been swapped now to a 6 speed c60 from a 02 celica gts for almost a year now. its still 1zzfe powered. but its got a few little bolt one. nothing major. i would also like to know if anyone on here has also done a 6 speed swap? if not then would i be the first?

Welcome to the forum.

As for the 6-speed swap, maybe not in this forum (at least I don't know of any on here), but other forums - there are quite a few. I, myself, am in the process of rebuilding a 6-speed transaxle for a future project car.

Was thinking of swapping it into the 1ZZ-FE, but the powerband wouldn't complement the ratios in the 6-speed box. Still would be a performance improvment though, since you eliminate the drivetrain losses from the automatic transaxle design along with reducing overall weight.

the 6spd swap has been talked about alot on 9th gen corolla. to sum it up you gain one gear but you lose top speed and possibly even fuel economy due to the close ratio box.

cant post the link.

well i have had the swap done for about a year now, and i can say that its much fun. even with the 4.56 final i still get about 30-35mpg average per tank. crusing at 65mph is right at 3k rpm. so its not too bad. and it is really nice for any kind of autox or canyon carving. simply cus any gear you go to it has power. i think that it suits the 1zz really well. and i do have to admit it, tho it is stupid, i have topped 6th gear. its about 131mph, at the 6250 rev limit for my non vvti 1zz. a 3.9 final from the lotus would be really good if your planning on turboing, but i dont know if i want to boost yet or not. tho i prolly will just for the fun of it. i really wish i had a lsd trans. it would be nice.

but my question was really about just 8th gen corolla's. i wanted to know if any one had done it before cus i would like to see how they did it.

what are your all's thoughts on a turbo 1zz vs n/a 1zz? if i go turbo i would prolly shoot for about 450whp on high boost, but detune it for daily use. cus seriously who need more than 250hp in a corolla? lol. but on the flip side if i go n/a i want to stick with a 1zz. i would like to get to 180-190 whp n/a. which i think is more than possible. altho the thought of a 2zzge swap has crossed my mind...
