Timing Chain and Other timing Parts

Would a loose timing chain or worn guides,sprokets or teninsor cause the 2000 corolla to run and sound like a diesel truck and barely get over 20MPH

Possibly, but so would at least a dozen other things that would cause the engine to sound rough and get poor performance.

What else have you looked at in the engine? Any CELs? Did this suddenly start or was this a condition that just kept getting worse?
