Canada Just drove the Corolla from Toronto to Vancouver ~4500kms

I just drove my 98 LE from Toronto to Vancouver a trip totalling 4522.1 kms. Being a sucker for useless information I kept full track of all the math for the gas used. I though Id share it with you guys just for the heck of it.

The totals were as follows:
Distance 4522.1 KM 2826.31 Miles
Gas 287.84 Liters 75.75 Gallons
Average 15.71km/L 37.31 Miles/Gallon
Speed (avg) 120km/h 75miles/h

Total Bill for gas $288.53 which worked out to $0.999 per Liter and $0.064 per KM.

I used my Scangauge II to do all the math along the way. With the car fully packed and very rear heavy I was averaging 800 kms / 500 miles to the tank. If I had maintained a speed of 100 km/h or lower I could have gotten 1000kms / 625miles to the tank.

I knew the car was good on gas, but I had no idea it was this good, keep in mind the car is a 4spd.

The total drive time was approximately 48 hours.

Here is a pic of the car fully loaded

Damn I would only get ~640km to a tank! I am jealous.

So you got 6.36L/100km, very nice... 1000km/tank would be stretching it unless you're skilled in hypermiling, for you need to come under 5.0L/100km for that to happen.

OTOH you should have seen the data I posted for my track days. I actually collected gas mileage to and from the track AND performance data on the track, there's data coming in like crazy!

So for your road trip did you go through the states? The drive through Ontario is long and lonely.

Hey Burrin I've had the car down to 5.1L/100km on a drive from Niagra falls to Toronto. My fiance was in the car and she was getting pissed because she could care less about hypermilling so I figured the 5L/100km would have to wait for another day. It is quite doable in these cars. The 09 did 1017 to the tank driving around a average speed of 110km/h in the 2008 50L Challenge.

I ended up driving through Canada because I had places to stay at for free in Winnipeg and Edmonton. Just had to pay for my hotel in Thunderbay.

The Scangauge was a awesome tool, without it I'm sure I would have filled up well before the gas light came on.

Dude my lowest is 5.6/100 on some southern Ontario country roads going 80km/h. When you make it back to GTA you NEED to come to a west end meet and hold some hypermiling clinic! By order of the horde of TN ZZE110 crowd * that can't get nearly that good mileage!

* (that's probably me, DJ Orion and boredstudent3, LOL )

Thats awesome mileage... and happy to hear cause I just bought the EXACT same car (same colour too) but its an automatic.
Just for comparicon sake, this summer I drove my dads 1988 34' triple E motorhome from Vernon BC to Richmond Ontario (just outside Ottawa). Averages about 90km/h over 4400km (we drove to Nakusp Hot Springs first). Best mileage was 9.6MPG and averages 8.2mpg. My father dished out somewhere around $1500 in gas money!!!
