In 2001 Corolla there is a power outlet (12v/120W) near hand brake. There is no fuse for this outlet. I have checked the 2 places under the hood and one near the Steering wheel.

This is not working and I have taken off the console and everything seems fine there. The wires coming to this outlet have no voltage into them. For the diagnostics, following things are working well.
Dome Light
RAdio
Clock
Cig Lighter
Mirrors

One more information might helps, there is a small tray next to cig lighter, this tray has little light on top of it, it is not working either. The wires coming to it are coming along with cig lighter wires but they are separate.

Somebody might now whether these items has fuses or to fix them they have to rewired (which i don't want). Also there might be some link between them.

Update: Today I took the car to toyota dealer, they were charging $98 for diagnosis, and one outcome of diagnosis can be "It can't be fixed". So I bring my car back. My cigarette lighter is still working.

Now my only hope is this forum.

id have to have a look at it, or see some pics. What i would do is, hook the ground of the outles to a ground if its not already, trace the positive wire, if its connected to something but that thing doesnt have power trace it aswell. For a quick fix for me, i would cut the power wire on that outlet and splice it into the ignitions ACC wire with an inline fuse.
But first check if your heater control lights are working because i know this model of corolla keeps blowing a fuse or something where the lights for the heater dont work.
but for now, i have to run-wont be back for a few hours, all i can say is trace the colored wires.

Sorry to bring this thread back up but I am having the same exact problem. Has anyone be able to find the issue? Again, all fuses have been checked and are fine. No power to the wires feeding the power outlet.

No one seems to be addressing this issue and the Haynes repair manual ignores this outlet. One person did say they thought there was a fusable link wire on the back of the outlet but there is no power coming to it and I don't see any link inline.

Ok so I gave in and did one of those online expert answer things and thought I would post the solution here for anyone searching for an answer.

There is a relay that feeds power from the 15 amp fuse in the F11 fuse holder to the outlet. If you do not have power at the connector for the outlet it is this fuse that is likley blown open. The location of the fuse holder is below. There is another fuse that provides power to the operating side of the relay and it has to be good as well. This is the CIG fuse in the instrument panel junction box (J/B)

Yes that is what you are looking for. The diagram was made with the drivers R/B out a little from the actual position in the left kick panel for clarity. You will have to dig a little to get to it, remove the plastic kick panel and look above the relay box behind it.

It is a bit hard to get to but it is a little plastic junction attached to the frame above the driver side kick panel juntion relay. It has the standard 15amp fuse in it.

Anybody else have the diagram for this relay? The link seems to be broken above. I also have the same problem and can't seem to find it. Is this relay in the same place as the Cig fuse?

I just replaced this fuse. It took me forever to find it....

Its to the left and behind the fusebox that is by the steering wheel.

I removed the small storage bin that covers the fuse panel, the trim around the bottom of the door frame, the trim under the steering wheel and then the metal cover under that. I'm not sure if that was all necessary but it made it easier to access.

The fuse is attached to the body, use a flashlight and shine it just to the left of the fuse panel and you should see the blue 15A fuse back there.

It was frustrating trying to get it out. Hopefully you have small hands.

Wow...that sounds like a pain to get to. So when you remove the storage bin to the left of the steering wheel it is to the left of that fuse panel underneath the storage bin?

Its to the left of the fuse panel and about 8inches back. Not underneath. It holds two fuses, the blue 15A one and the other is empty. The unit is obviously very small and is made from the same plastic as the larger fuse panel and its attached with a white clip to the body. Hope this helps. It was a pain to get out but once I found the fuse it was only about 5 minutes work.

I have the same problem. I just dug around and got the fuse, but it was fine. I replaced it anyways but the power outlet near the hand brake still isn't working... I suppose I will see if the outlet is the problem.
