Make sure the battery connections are tight and clean. Make sure the cables and terminals are in good shape. Try jumping it and see if it helps, but don't try and "charge" a nearly dead battery with the car - really hard on the alternator to make enough juice to charge a battery and run the car.
If the car has an alarm system - disconnecting the battery might have caused an starter/run kill system to start up.
