Any way this actually works?!

So I know this probably a hoax, and probably isn't good for the engine, but do these "fuel saver / hp booster" chips have ANY credibility to them?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PERFO...Q5fAccessories

Does all it do just make the engine think it's not getting enough oxygen by tricking the oxygen sensor, so that the engine will pull in more air? If so, this has to be bad for it in some way.

I know it's probably a useless add-on, but I see these things all over the place and always wanted to know exactly how they say they can "increase gas mileage and give you more HP"

Thanks!

haha, I know, I know. It was a dumb question.

The real reason I actually posted this was to find out what the little 'chip' actually does? (or is supposed to do. lol)

i believe its allotta BS, all it is really is a 5 cent resistor. I think it works the opposite way by tricking your ecu into thinking there's too much oxygen therefor injecting more fuel. Im pretty sure there's no way gas mileage would increase, maybe get worse.

It's pretty effective in making your wallet lighter.

chips on ebay, the truth about them.

i saw that a thread earlier was posted and is now closed, nobody pinpointed what those chips actually do. They trick the engine into thinking its warm from a cold start
take your temperature sensor plug off when its cold, and you will see that your engine will idle lower like its warm.
