Trim Under Window Ripped

The black trim under the window is ripped showing a silver, solid trim underneath. Is this replaceable? Or do I just need to live with it?

Mine is the same way. I was actually wondering about it too, but too lazy to make a thread. My dad suggested peeling off all that you can and just spraying it black. Ionno if it would work, though.

I have the same problem.

a buddy spray painted the trim on his E46. Looks HORRIBLE, so it persuaded me not to paint the trim.

I've got the same issue...I started peeling it; but it's not just trim- it's also weather stripping. I painted what I'd gotten off with liquid electrical tape (don't do this; when it gets warm it starts getting tacky and can get black stuff on you if you stick your arm out the window). I'm considering peeling it completely off but I was a little nervous it might allow a lot of moisture in and get all of the electrical components (ie-window motor, switches, and speaker) wet and cause shorts or blown fuses or damaged components. Another thing you can try is the truck bed-liner material. Spray some of that on (after taping off the door and windows) and that should be OK because it's designed for a higher heat (being in a truck bed where the sun beats down on it). I will say that I've got rear window trim that broke off the metal piece and is now INSIDE the door and so far there's been no damage to the components inside that door (and I live in a pretty wet area, also taken my car through the car wash several times).

Thanks for the responses. I was seconds away from putting electrical tape on it until I read.

I will keep looking for a solution.
