'00 Serpentine Belt Change Question

Does anyone have any tips, tricks or mistakes to avoid when changing a 2000 Corolla serpentine belt that you could pass along? Thanks in advance.

Changed my tensioner pulley and it got rid of the diesel engine sound that showed up on certain hot starts.
Use the serpentine belt tool, made it a breeze.

A long wrench, breaker bar, or even using a cheater bar might be needed. The tension on the tensioner is pretty good.

Take a picture or draw out a diagram of how the old belt was on before you take it off.

Depending on how old the tensioner is you might want to replace it. Especially if you hear a rumble/growl upon first acceleration. (see previous from this week posts about it)

That noise might come back. If it does just replace the tensioner assembly. It's a common problem that's been discussed many times here.

You know I was at wits end. Tried near everything I could think of even had a Toyota mechanic listen to it and he seemed bewildered. This guy is no idiot.
Essentially stumbled on it when I thought i'd change the tensioner assembly and belt.
Struck me a number of hot starts later WOW No Noise... felt nice.

I snooped the site a number of times looking for engine problems, felt it had something to do with the 1.8L oil burnig problem, maybe carbon or a worn bearing.
My searches are getting better.

Thanks

It seems like I need to replace the Belt Tensioner to get rid of the heavy engine sound when I accelerate. Are these good prices?
