Need a muffler Recommendation

Hey guys,

I am thinking about getting a muffler for my 98 corolla. I just recently installed a CAI and feel that with the extra airflow in, I may need some extra airflow out. I am probably going to either buy OBX headers or port and polish my manifold.

Now, I am looking for a muffler that will not sound ricey or too loud, but rather give it a nice tone. Also, are there any that perhaps give better performance?

Anyone who has a muffler that they recommend please chime in.

Any magnaflow muffler is going to be a good choice.

Something like
this this
has a deep even tone that isn't ricey or too loud.

get a full cat back. not just a muffler. contact a local muffler shop, get a 2.5in cat back with a magnaflow muffler, and resonator. it will keep it decently quite and improve power, while sounding good.

How much do you think it would cost for the whole catback, ballpark.

Also, does anyone recommend any specific magnaflow mufflers?

Hey Hummer, do you have one installed? BTW, I made my CAI like your latest design. Thanks for the great write ups and pictures. I can certainly tell a difference.

Cool, I would really like to hear it. Also, I have gone to the magnaflow website looking for any exhaust or cat back for my 98 corolla, however I have not been able to find anything. Even for toyota.

Did you buy a generic? If so, if its not so much trouble, could I get a part number?

Thanks a lot!

the reason it proly got louded is your hearing your own car off the rear bumper, provided the muffler exit is behind the bumper. its reflecting the sound forward, insted of out like the tip was doing.

also expect to pay more if you want your catback made out of stainless steel, thats what i will be making mine out of, i like stainless... lol

Hummer,

Those sound pretty nice. My parents also have a Tacoma which a lot of people recommend dynomax exhausts. Has anyone ever tried them for our corolla's?

not bad sounding. i personally dont like dynomax. my favs have been magnaflow, apexi gt or n1, and the world sport. i had a blitz nur spec exhaust on my old s13. it was loud, but sounded soooooo good. it kinda sounded like a formula 1 car, but not high pitched. no rasp to it at all.
