Problem with 99 driver's side window...

My driver's side window doesn't go on the "track" (the little notch towards the center pillar) when I roll it up. Everytime I roll up my window, it comes out of the little 'track' and comes in a little bit (towards the interior), so whenever I have to put the window up I have to push it back towards the outside of the car so it lines up correctly and THEN put it up. It seems as if it's leaning towards the front when you start to put it up, and then about half way up it starts to come out of the slot and becomes loose. Is there any easy way to fix this? What's wrong with it?

Sounds like the bolts that hold the bottom of the window to the window regulator are loose or missing. Have to pull the door panel off and the interior access panel/vapor barrier off first to see what is going on.

If those two bolts that hold the window the regulator are loose - it will cause the window to fall out of the window run like that. There sas actually a recall on the 2003-2004 Corolla/Matrix/Vibe for just that problem - the bolts just backed off or sheared off on their own.

There was a pretty decent description to pull off the door panel on this forum somewhere. Once the panel is off, you should be able to tell pretty quickly what the problem is.

Awesome. I'll pull it off tonight and take a look at it.

With the vapor shield, that's the piece of plastic (plastic wrap looking) that is glued onto the metal, right? How do I put that back on if I remove the adhesive?

Correct. That sheeting should pull off cleanly off the adhesive. Just becareful not to tear it or stretch it out too much and you should be able to stick it back in place. I've already taken the plastic off of both my doors a few times, and it still sticks well each time.

If worse comes to worse - and the sheeting tears, you can run without it just fine for a short time. Only problem that you'll run into is potential to get water inside the car. You can also use plastic drop sheets or Tyvek building sheeting to replace a shredded OEM plastic barrier. The glue they use should be plenty sticky. If it is totally dried out or missing - 3M Window Weld or other flexible adhesive can be used in its place.
