01 corolla s swap

Hey everyone, im kinda new here and to the toyota world. Currently i have a fully built ep3 with a k20a motor in there, but also got my dads 01 corolla s for a daily, currently its automatic but what i was wondering is if anyone has done some kind of a swap to this cars other then the 2zz motor. What i had in mind was a little b16 or something or a k20a3. If anyone has done this or can help at all it would be great

well i have seen quite a few k20's swapped into mr2 spyders. since the spyder and corolla both share the 1zzfe engines, i would imagine a k20 swap would be possible. the k20 is the only honda engine i would even consider, but it would be a nightmare since no one has done it yet into the 8th gens. infact for less than the k20 swap would cost you could build and boost you 1zz to well over 300whp. and swap to a 5/6 speed too. not knocking the k20, just saying it would be less of a headache, but i do commend you for the idea. if you do end up sticking with the 1zz then i would check out monkeywrenchracing.com. they have a built mr2 boasting 500+ whp from the 1zz. its pretty bad ass.

thnx for the reply, and the thing is im not too familiar with toyota Motors, i mean i know the common stuff but ive grown up with hondas, and the other fact is that its a 4 speed automatic and that defantly has to be changed, so what i was thinkin was a full k swap with tranny ecu and everything, i just dont know how much fabrication is gonna be needed since there is no mounts available.

not cheap. not by a long shot. i would check on spyderchat.com and see if anyone over there has done one, and how much they spent.

I would stick to the 2ZZ with a 6spd swap.

With proper tuning and the lighter body of the 8th gen, it would give any K20A-powered car a good run for it's money at the track.

Cost varies. It would be better to source a front clip complete with matching axles to avoid any fitment problems that may arise. Aftermarket support, while not as healthy as the K-series, is still plenty.

The advantages easily outweigh the costs in this case.

The 2ZZ-GE makes much more power than the 20V series 4A-GE's.

The weight difference is minimal considering the huge performance increase you get with the 2ZZ-GE.

The balance of the 8th gen Corolla wasn't really great to begin with.

that is my defense for the 20v being a less expensive option.

if you want to be real gangster put the 20v blacktop head on the 7afe (1.8L) block with the 6-speed manual tranny. that would be tits.
4200 for a 2zz? ripoff. i've seen them go for 2 grand with engine trans and harness w/ ecu. halfcuts for 2500-3000.

Ditto, just have to know where to source them out.

I'm locking this since there are already so many threads on 8th gen engine swaps that exist.
