yes its possible. there are a couple of recent threads on this. most people use the ae111 (jdm corolla levin) rear disc. there is a guy on here selling the whole rear conversion for 300ish if i remember correctly.

If I were to do a 5-lug conversion, then it would be to 5x114.3.

5x100 pattern in the XRS hardly offers any good aftermarket wheel choices.

I'm doing one right now. I got the parts off of a 96' Celica GT. The only thing I have to do is drill the 5-lug rotors to 4-lug.

Basically, you need to import an AE101 rear disc kit. Robr20v recently imported a few that he's selling for about $300 plus shipping.

(There's probably more if you search.)

So I had to put the stock one back on and re-bleed all the brakes! needless to say I waisted 3hrs of my life. The prop valve is centered on the fire wall so its a PITA to get to on 7th gen because the intake manifold in in the way. It should be easier on 8th gens.

I'll going to HK in a week and may pick up some NEW parts from the dealer as well. I'm now crossing part numbers on toyodiy (that site is oh so handy ) of the stuff to get. So far the entire rear brake stuff is the same between AE101 and AE111, the axle hub and the o-ring behind it is the same between those two AND ZZE110 (so no need to import them ). And we can get the pads and prop valve from AE92 GTS.

Does the parking brake cables need to be changed?
So one of us doing this conversion also have ABS brakes. how are you going to mount the wheel sensor?

Then again after what I read here (that such upgrades may not help if I can already lock wheels up - I have ABS and can sometimes trigger it), if someone want the conversion more badly than I do, I'll sell to the highest bidder.

Post if you have a wish list or suggestions of what I should get. When I'm done crossing the parts, I'll post their numbers here.

EDIT: No wonder we can gank so much from the AE92GTS - a lot of stuff is similar there! Time to "borrow" the VIN of Ren's GTS so I can hit up my local (Toronto) dealer, hehehe

Anyway, here are the part numbers I got so far:

Rear axle carrier
LH 42305-12140 HK$2944
RH 42304-12140 HK$2944

rear disc brake rotor
42431-12150 HK$1928

rear disc brake backing plate
(AE101/111)
LH 47804-12060 HK$422
RH 47803-12060 HK$422

rear disc brake caliper assembly
RH 47730-12460
LH 47750-12460

rear caliper bolt
90105-10167 4x, available locally

parking brake cable (brake to equalizer)
LH 46430-12290 HK$518
RH 46420-12390 HK$518

pad support plate #1
47716-12020 4x

anti-squeal shim
47744-12080 4x

rear brake hose (2x each)
AE92 GTS: 90947-02541
AE101/111: 90947-02740

Banjo bolts and its gaskets can be sourced locally
Parking brake cable clip: 96991-10080, can be sourced locally
Parking brake clevis pin: 90240-08040, also available locally

Clip to clevis pins - well, can be had for pennies at outlet of your choice

I'm pretty sure the rear disc brake backing plates from the AE92 GTS won't fit since the rotors on the AE101/AE111 rear disc setup are physically larger.

Yes. I just did mine and tried to reuse the existing cables, but they were about an inch too long.

Anyone want some AE101 rotors and pads?

EDIT: I'm about to order some from the dealer in HK.

I reached the dealer parts centre in HK. Looks like I won't be able to bring back anything - all needs to be order from Japan and takes at least 4 weeks. (yes I know phat) But I got prices and added them to my other post above.

BTW the brake pads kit 04466-12040 is HK$604 each.

Welcome to the rear disc club

So what was the total cost of the project altogether?

About $1000 but that includes new rotors and pads for the front, also.
