Fair Price / Best Year?

I'm new to Corollas (and Toyotas).

I'm looking for an 8th gen Corolla with manual transmission with 80k - 100k miles. What would be fair price range assuming very good condition (no accidents, original paint, very clean interior) low level trim (CE) to mid-level trim?

Are any years better than others and why?

Thx

I'm sure the newer the better, but I've seen a 2001 with 40k miles, guy was asking 8.5k for it, it was in excellent shape, but you said 80k to 100k, I've seen go for about 5-6k with good condition.

For an 8th Gen (98-02), look for either a 2001 or 2002 (better front bumper/headlights), for $5-7k, if well maintained and no oil burning problem.

From what I have read, the 1993-97 were the best Corolla years. The 1998-2001 are also very similar mechanically, except it use a timing chain as opposed to the timing belt, which is a good improvement.

I would look at getting a 2001-2002 S.
