Start off on the passenger side of the car, by the serpentine belt. May have to pull the plastic engine cover off to get a good view at it - but it is on the rear of the cylinder head, looks like a plate held on with two 10mm bolts. Located almost directly above the powersteering pump, to the left of the exhaust heat shield.

Pretty common to have this one leak. Even my 2002 started leaking there recently - as when I checked the oil, it was low a few ounces (car never drank oil before). Looked around and found the chain tensioner was leaking.

Do a search on the forum - there are quite a few posts on what to do to fix it. Not a hard process - have to reset the tension on the tensioner, there are a couple of trick for that. I personally would pull the valvecover off to take a peek at the top engine and double check the valve clearances.

i think this might be my problem as well. car has been drinking oil for while but i figured it was just being burned. i got my car on a lift at school and saw oil near the belts on the oil pan so i've got some work to do...

location of Timing Chain Tensioner

It is hard to see, but it is on the left side.
From the left side, you can see the timing chain cover in front of you, it is just above the engine block.

Here is a picture of the location:
