Auto to manual

Can I swap a manual transmission from an 03 or newer corolla into my 2000? Will I need a new ecm? Ive heard it will cost ALOT of money. I was hoping to either get a 03+ donor car and taking the transmission and engine, or just a transmission from an 8th gen and maybe the engine too, or possibly buying a 6 speed from monkeywrenchracing. The reason I want the engine too is so I could build it up and swap it in for turbo. It all just depends on what I can get my hands on, what is even possible, and if I will be able to save enough. I would like to turbo, but its not really practical on a corolla, neither is manual swap, but I hate the automatic. I have my eyes more on handling, but as time drags on I hate the automatic more and more.

You would be better off taking everything out of the 03 model. The engine and transmission are different then 98-02.

Will the engine/transmission fit in a 2000? And I thought that the engines were the same besides the intake manifold and that the transmissions were all c59s or something like that, so why wouldnt the transmission just bolt right up?
