From going out and looking at my rolla, the back fenders seem to be a single peice of metal with the roof.

But from knocking on it with your knuckle, you can tell they are different peices of metal and joined somewhere in the C pillar.

To replace it, Im not sure, but I see some very fine welding and sanding involved.

i would recommend having a reputable body shop doing the work. this kind of work is not for the average joe. if you know what i mean. might want to see if it would be covered on your insurance.

I have a pretty good dent in the same area on my car. I was kinda saddened to see that it ran all the way to the roof and down the front. I'll try this "knocking test" you speak of...

not without cutting it out, and rewelding it back in. this is why i recommended a reputable body shop. you can also look into dent pullers, but just about anything you do to pull a dent like that will require some form of paint and possibly bondo work.

do you have a digital camera? i would like to see pics of this dent, both of you. i want to see how bad of damage we are dealing with.

I'll try to get a picture up tomorrow of mine, but it's not as bad as yours. My car has a bunch of little dings and dents from the first owner...

yea a dent puller would work. that might be able to be pushed out. i dont think the rear quarter needs to come off to fix, but you might have to gut out your trunk and use a rubber mallet. just give it a few love taps. not to hard and it should start coming out. you might be able to push on it with your hand to get it out. it really doesnt look too bad at all.

Might even be able to pound that dent out from the inside of the fender. Have to pull the inside trim panel off (be pretty obvious which one need to come off, clips are plainly visible on it).

I got tapped from the same rear corner on my car - that damage was significantly more than what you have pictured. I was able to pound it back out with a hammer and some metal tools (dolly, body spoon).

Since it doesn't look like it is creased - you could either pound it out - with a rubber mallet from the inside of the fender. Or take it to a shop with a PDR kit (paintless dent repair). They basically use suction cups that you glue to the body, Then by bridging the damaged section, they can pull the dent out. Then they just need to dissolve the adhesive on the suction cups. Nice thing about this method is no need to repaint, assuming the original finish was undamaged.
