Plug for rear O2 sensor

Quick question for anyone who's done it: The rear O2 sensor connector, is it inside the cabin, under the passenger seat? I have a FSM at the garage, but I figured I'd ask here first.

I'm assuming it goes like this: Disconnect neg term of batt, remove pass seat, unplug sensor, get under and unscrew old sensor from exhaust, reinstall in opposite order.

I only say disconnect batt because I have side airbags and don't want to tangle with those.

Thanks,
T

Yup, just like I said. I bought one off eBay, ABC parts. Works great, just have to transfer the grommet over to the new sensor, which can be a little difficult

Here is the actual plug location:

And here is a further back pic for reference:

Took about an hour, including jacking the car up. No more CEL (P0420 code), and the car runs great.

Is that hole next to the plug where the grommet goes?

From the first pic it looks like you didn't even need to remove the seat--just roll out that carpeting and there it is. In retrospect would you say that's true?

Haynes manual says to remove the center console, but based on the location of your plug it doesn't look like that would get you anywhere.

Thanks for the great post!

In order to move the carpet enough, you need to remove the seat. It's simple though, four 14mm bolts and one electrical connection. Removing the console is not required, just pull the connector down from behind the console. (in the picture posted, I had pulled the chassis side connector down from underneath the console) The process I described is exactly how the FSM tells you how to do it.

The hole in the first pic is where the grommet goes. Some O2 sensors come with the grommet attached. I went as cheap as possible (while still having a direct fit connector), as I am currently unemployed, so I didn't mind struggling with the grommet.
