okey so my uncle bought a corolla 2001 in an auction for 750
now we were trying to start the car but nothing would happen
now we checked and the serpentine belt is missing
i think this is what causing the car not to start
so can i change the serpentine belt myself
is it an easy task or not??
kind of confused about it
a missing serpentine belt wont keep an engine from starting. a dead battery or dead starter motor will.
and yes a serpentine belt is not hard if you have the routing diagram
but the new belt wont make it magically start up.

okey soo the serpentene belt is there but not properly connected
i means its not over the alternator
and we tried with new battery but still dint work
soo the most obvious thing is that the starter is dead
can i replace the starter my self
actually i just want to make the engine start somehow
as i dnt wana pay too much money to those mechanics
its just a 750 dollar car
Wow that's a deal right there... wish I could pick me up another 2001 rolla for 750... dang reliable suckers they are...
Anyway, yes you can do the serpentine belt yourself... I actually just did it over the weekend... took all but say... 15 min's and plus 30 minutes because I put a new tensioner assembly on. (15 mins is all inclusive of removing and installing the belt...)
The starter from what I remember seeing is right in front of the engine itself... located just below the intake manifold. (one of the smallest starters I've ever seen tbh). Should be a pair of bolts that you undo and it should come out... should be... never did it for this car so can't really say but I'll take a closer look for ya if you need.
the car is in a pretty gud shape
just the front bumper need to be replaced
i have to do the serpentene belt my self anyway
but if u can check it for me
cos i wana make this thing running on any cost
they're reliable if you can see past the oil burning (vvti 8gc in paticular), oil leaking, loud ticking from the valves or the vsv etc etc
That's the car! My car is burning about a quart every... 400-600 miles... no oil leaks but the valves were driving me nuts... until this past weekend... took off the valve cover and took some measurements on the clearances on the lifters... there are a few that are too tight but given the age(mileage) of the car, not going to worry about it... also noticed that my valve cover gasket was fried and getting oil into the spark plug chamber... so replaced that. Also cleaned out my MAF sensor... going to do a full on internal steam clean this weekend because when I had my plugs out and looked inside... my pistons were caked with carbon build-up!
Yep its on the front of the engine... from the top looking down into the engine bay, just below (south or closer to the ground... not under or covered by) the intake manifold. It looks like a soda can of sorts... mine had an orange label on it with a Denso number... i think it was 228000-3616 or something like that... don't take my word on it... just from memory.
Anyway, its between your lower radiator hose and the master (or slave) clutch cylinder... which is attached to the tranny. Hope that helps... looks like the starter is connected with a simple 2 bolts (looked like 8mm), one on top and one on the bottom... Looks like you'll need to move the lower radiator hose out of the way to get access to the bolts... but you should be able to fit a small ratchet up in there to get it out....

Duz it trn ovr? Or naat crnk?

I love impounded cars, out here in California, they call them lien sales,
hence my name. I buy only if they start, if it's a no start, I offer what the
junkyard will buy a car from the tow yard. There's always going to be another
car around the corner.
