Squeaking sound or so...

I have a quick question...why is it that whenever i start my 01 corolla in the morning when it's cold and there is a squeaking sound coming from the engine, but then it comes from the...more like from the wheel pulleys or the timing belt or something somewhere there or near there???? I've got no clue of it.

Also when it's warmed up and i start the engine again, there's no squeaking anywhere?

Serpentine belt and/or serpentine belt tensioner would be my first though. Chances are the belt needs to be replaced, dirt and dust can cause it to slip on the pulleys, resulting in a squealing noise. If the belt tension "shock" is leaking or worn out, it could cause the belt to have too much slack, also leading to a squealing belt noise. The fact that it goes away after the engine warms up, makes the belt/tensioner more likely culprits.

Quick test - spray the belt with water (trigger spray bottle), when the engine is cold. Can be done with the engine running or not, see if the noise temporarily goes away. If it does, you likely have a bad belt. If the noise is still there - you might have something else on your hands.

Other possible culprits - bad accessory (alternator, powersteering) and/or its pulley (bearing is shot somewhere) or faulty idler pulley.

@ILOVECOROLLALE, I have the same problem. Car makes noise that seems that is coming from serpentine belt area. I however changed the belt and the noise went away for a couple of days but returned. I tried the spray water test on the belt and it causes the noise to go away temporarely (2-5 minutes). I also changed the tensioner pulley, (just the round wheel, not the whole assembly). Please let me know how you fixed the problem, if so.

Mine problem was just because of the belt needing to replace thats why it was squeaking.

Does your belt needs replacing yet?any cracks? You might have a loose pulley or nut/bolt holding the pulleys.

Probably try playing with the belt tensioner as if you're going to change the belt...the 19mm bolt that's on the tensioner, try moving it back and forth.
