Cooling system flush

I'm preparing to change the coolant in my 2002 Corolla. It jus turned over 80,000 miles. I bought this car this past summer. It had 76,000 miles on it at the time. I have no way of knowing when (or if) the coolant was last changed.

Should I use a chemical when flushing the cooling system, or is plain water good enough for flushing?

I was planning to use distilled water (mixed with anti-freeze of course) when I fill the cooling system back up.

Please let me know what you think?

Thanks.

a drain and fill is fine, you can drain the block if you want from the block drain. its located on the back side of the engine.

I say use water to drain it. And if you want, fill the car up with water, and drive it for about 5 to 10 miles.

Yeah, make sure it is a 50/50 mix and you are using the right kind of coolant.
You know how much coolant you need right?
