Engine Died

So today i drove just fine earlier in the day, but when it got cold for the first time, i started my car, the battery light stayed on and there was no power steering. i waited about 20 seconds, then the battery light went off and the power steering turned on...it was wierd.. anyway as i drove a block or two i started losing power and then my engine started ticking then just roll stalled. Now i cannot even start it, my alternator is good, my battery is good, when i try to start the engine the starter just spins and spins... doesnt seem like its cranking, i had my car pulled to try and roll start it but in first gear it seemed that it didnt want to roll very well, but when i put the gas pedal to the floor i could hear the air intake sucking in at a low rpm...deep woooop, so that tells me that the pistons are acting normal...could it possibly be my transmission?

I'm not a pro in these cars but the transmission should have nothing to do with the engine starting or not... is it possible it could be the fuel pump perhaps?

dont think so because the efi was pumping gas into the cylinders and causing loud backfires as i was trying to start it... i was thinking it may be the coilpacks... but then why would it backfire? it would have to have a spark.. and why wont the starter crank the flywheel... i really dont know... my starter would not have stalled my engine as that would make no sense whatsoever... it could be two problems... the coilpacks could have failed thus stalling the engine. and of course the starter seems like its not touching the crank.... doesnt make sense to me... i know the engine was very cold when i started it... i didnt have the block heater plugged in so maybe i should have waited till the engine warmed up before i drove off lol...i never rev it high when its cold i know that can harm engines...the engines block heater is currently plugged in and ima try messing with it tomorrow when its daylight out
