The grill that is molded onto the 01 corolla....i was wondering wether you cut it out by a saw?knife?Dremel?or what?i have no clue of how to cut it with...so please back me up.
its simple, just cut out the grill portion with the dremel (or shave it down till its flat like i did). find some mesh you want to use and cut it to size. then attach with cable ties.

Looks nice! I see - you just flattened the grille out a bit, and left the existing support structure there. Good idea, keeps the mesh from potentially caving inward and/or distort the bumper cover.

Thanks! even though i cant put the stock toyota symbol back in, i at least have the rest of the grille to back up the mesh.

btw wouldn't matter if it was a big or small dremel right?
you can do it that way, it looks like most people do that anyway. i preferred to leave most of the grill there....what do you mean by large or small dremel? you just need a cutting wheel to cut out the portion of the grill that you want to remove....
anyways....back to lab lol

I used a dremmel and a hack saw to get mine out. I just popped the chrome trim out, then cut right along the edge where you can't see it. I secured the mesh in with zip ties under the hood. I can post up close pictures tomorrow.

Alrighty, can't wait to see...its looks cool already.
For my grille on my 99 Corolla i used a hack saw blade on it's own to cut through and used sandpaper to smooth it all out. Put duct tape behind some gaps that i need to bondo (i did this to the bottom grill so it left large gaps) and filled them in. Repainted the bumper and used two layers of chicken fencing (It actually looks pretty good) to make my grill. My goal was to make it look as good as i could for as little as i could and it cost me 50$ for all the paint primer and fencing(which i painted metalic blue). I will get some pics to post on here when i figure out how to :P I would like to see some pics of how you are doing if possible
Since I wanted the mesh grille to be more recessed under the hood, I decided to cut out all the slats and put the mesh behind it. Yeah, it leaves large holes on each side, so you have to fiberglass it. This is the only pic I got, before it was primered and painted.
