Air Conditioning not blowing cold air.

2000 corolla LE. The air conditioning is not blowing cold air. The A/C light is OFF. would this mean its just a minor problem like the a/c fluid? or could it also mean hundreds in repair?

Hard to say, without checking to see what the pressures are like and exactly what the system is doing.

As a safety feature, the compressor will not run if there is low to no charge on the system. So it could be as simple as recharging the A/C and you are good to go. The potential issue, what caused the A/C system to lose the refrigerant in the first place.

Depending on what happened to the system, could be a simple hose or connector replacement. If you have a hole in the condensor (in front of radiator) - easily looking at a couple of hundred dollars.

It could just be that the button is not working or it could be like fishexpo101 said. Check your area if you have an A/C specific shop you could take it to because not a lot of shops do A/C service where I am except the specialty ones. I recommend not doing anything yourself because refrigerant is dangerous stuff to be messing with (I over pressurized my system on my own and green oil and refrigerant shot everywhere)

good luck and be sure to tell us what you ended up doing =)

If your system has a sight glass, you might wanna take a look and see if there's freon in it.

My A/C was blowing out warm air but my A/C light was blinking, changed the clutch relay and it was fixed for about $7.00. Got the relay used from ebay.

if the compressor wont run because of low to no charge... wouldnt that affect my windshield defrosting? as far as i know, when defrosting it turns on the A/C automatically? The car doesnt seem to have any defrosting problems. Would that rule out the low charge?
