Manual transmission fluid change. What fluid to use?

My 01 Corolla has about 115K KM's on it (about 72K miles). I was thinking of changing the manual transmission fluid. What is a good choice? I remember when I had a Probe GT (1rst gen)...we had Redline MTL and other options. Is there a fluid I should stick to for this car, or can I put a slightly higher performance fluid in there? The car shifts ok, but it's not the best in the world. I wouldn't mind if the syncros did a better job than they do. I don't want tranny fluid made for racing if it's going to make my shifting harder. Just want to know what the options are and whether people put a higher performance redline fluid in there rather than a regular oem grade fluid.

thanks in advance for any info,

Therer were fears that Royal Purple may eat the synchros, otherwise I would have ran it longer. I am running a mix of Redline MT-90, some semi-synthetic 75w90 stashed away in my garage before I even moved in, and topped up with the RP that I drained. If you had MTL, now you can have MT-90.

the rumor about royal purple eating synchros is for subies. not us. royal purple has been used in all c series gear boxes with no problems. infact quite a few people have used it on newcelica.org. i have used this in my s13 and now in my c60 in the corolla. heres the link http://www.newcelica.org/forums/show...light=cocktail

Took it to my mechanic when I had my winter tires put on, so I had the engine oil and tranny oil changed. Said the car took about 2L of tranny fluid. Does that sound about right?

I used a semi-synthetic 75w90 transmission fluid motomaster. I probably should have took the time to find RP or Redline, but it seems to be working ok for now. I seriously suspect the syncros aren't fairing so well and tranny fluid won't fix it. I shouldn't complain, as it shifts ok as is. I may just take the advice of a member here and have my clutch pedal free play etc adjusted.

Something else is wrong with that engine if you're using the proper weight of RP and then engine is failing. RP is a very proven oil, and I've had no issues with it in my VG30DETT.
