Keyless Entry System for 2001 Corolla

I have power door locks and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good keyless entry system that would also pop my trunk. I don't need an automatic starter because I have a stick shift.. Thanks.

I had a car audio shop install a unit similar to this one to keylessly unlock my doors.

Since the 2001 Corolla does not have an electrically operated trunk latch, I had to fabricate one using this:

I didn't use the manual button supplied with the trunk solenoid, but instead wired it into the control box for the key fob.

Thank you for your response. I like the simplicity of the unit you have. It's just what I need. I don't know how to fabricate the trunk latch but at least I can explain what I want to my local shop.

I went to 2 shops and they said it would take 3 hours to install the trunk opener unit. They said it would cost around 300 bucks to do it. The key fobs they have are the 4 button ones, but I only want 3 buttons. They won't install something they don't sell. I just might buy the one you have and search for someone in Massachusetts who would do it. I really would like to be able to open my trunk with the fob but it's a bit too expensive. I noticed that the trunk release kit you linked was for a civic. Is that a mistake or is that the one you have?

The link is supposed to be for a universal trunk opener; not just a Honda.

The problem is that there is no good place to mount the solenoid. So before you can install the solenoid, you have to create something to install it on.

Here's what I did. I took a strip of 2" wide, 1/8" thick aluminum and attached it to the frame ribs of the trunk with heavy sheet metal screws. The aluminum strip is arched to give it strength and not allow it to move front to back. Then the solenoid connects to the underside of the aluminum strip.

Yeah, I suppose it looks ghetto as hell, but I was going for function more so than looks. And it has been very reliable in the two years since I did it. Eventually I will do an interior trunk mod and cover it all up anyway.

I checked out the pics of your car. Looks great. I wish I had a clue about working on cars. I like what you did with the trunk opener but I know it would end up costing me a fortune to fix what I screwed up. I think for now I'll just have the door openers installed and use my key to open the trunk until I get some money to have someone else install it. Thank You.
