I just might buy the one you have and search for someone in Massachusetts who would do it. I really would like to be able to open my trunk with the fob but it's a bit too expensive. I noticed that the trunk release kit you linked was for a civic. Is that a mistake or is that the one you have?

The link is supposed to be for a universal trunk opener; not just a Honda.
The problem is that there is no good place to mount the solenoid. So before you can install the solenoid, you have to create something to install it on.
Here's what I did. I took a strip of 2" wide, 1/8" thick aluminum and attached it to the frame ribs of the trunk with heavy sheet metal screws. The aluminum strip is arched to give it strength and not allow it to move front to back. Then the solenoid connects to the underside of the aluminum strip.
Yeah, I suppose it looks ghetto as hell, but I was going for function more so than looks. And it has been very reliable in the two years since I did it. Eventually I will do an interior trunk mod and cover it all up anyway.
