keep auto light but not drl

im trying to disable the drl circuitry but not the auto light. i do perfer the auto lights to work when it does get dark. i have done searches on the forum but i have no luck on finding the correct thread. I know we can disable the whole drl system but cutting pin 2 on U.S vehicles. Well i was wondering if cuttin pin 4 and 14 then splicing them together to bypass the drl box would work on actually disable the drl system but keep the auto lights to work. Thanks for you help i would greatly appreciate it

Doing what you described deprives the DRL brain of the handbrake signal and fools it into thinking that the handbrake is always (either up or down, I don't remember the switch being NO or NC) and you either permanently enables DRL minus other mods, or cause it to never activate. In the latter case, auto light does not activate because DRL is not operating.

You can instead try to JUST (ie. without modding anything else) isolate one red-with-yellow-stripe wires from J2, the gray jumper block by the instrument panel fuse block. To find the right wire, unplug J2 and probe between all wires of this color. Two wires are shorted together and goes to the DRL brain. Isolate the third wire.

This disconnects the DRL's output circuit and cause it to not light up with DRL, and your auto-light still works because DRL remains "operational". When auto-light decides to light up it energizes the DRL relay, just like when you turn the lights on yourself, and this mod doesn't get in the way.

okay seeing the wiring diagram bypass the drl module will not work. so pretty much find the initial leg of the red/yellow wire creating 12 volt and isolate it from j2 causing the drl system to deactivate and auto lights will still work. thanks again!
