^ it will. but you'd also want the bottom end with the lighter internals thereby making a engine that spins up quicker. i say if you can find a complete redtop 1zz (harness, ecu tranny) just go for it.

probably the ECU, wiring harness and sensors since the VVTi system will most likely use a lot more than the non VVTi 1ZZFE's.

you would need the head, a complete wiring harness, ecu, all the sensors. coilpacks, etc. its a pretty involved swap. would be easier to just find a celica gt complete engine ecu and harness. i would recommend arp head studs if you do this swap, because toyota uses torque to yield head/main bolts. aka torque once and throw away.

also, from what i have noticed with 1zz differences between the celica and corolla, the corolla has stronger rods, but worse pistons. the celica also looks to have slightly higher comp (10.5 vs 10.0). all the pics i have seen show a raised center section on the celica pistons. they also are coated pistons stock. the rods are cast on the celica, and powder forged metal on the corolla. i would rather have a slightly heavier forged rod, than a lighter cast one. just my opinion.

celica 1zz-fe drops in fine, but you'd need to also swap the auto trans with it since you'll need the ECM to control the vvti and trans...and the corolla and celica do not use the same auto trans.

2000-2003 celica gt. 140hp. 122ftlbs. 6500 redline.

i do believe the 04-05 are drive by wire. the others are cable throttles.

yes the 2zzge will fit. it has vvtli which is like the k20's ivtec. the vvti is just cam phasing it does not "hit" at all. you dont feel it.

but the 2zz is way more expensive than finding a 1zzfe from a celica. but it does have the c60 close tation 6 speed. the swap has been done before. i dont know all the details on how to do that swap, as im not too interested in the 2zz right now, but im pretty sure if you pm dr.tweak he could fill you in on all you need for the swap.

no you dont hear vvti at all.

the "turboed celica" engine your talking about, is the 3sgte, and it is faaaar from a bolt in. not to mention about 100lbs heavier than a stock 1zz.

if your looking for power, just build and turbo the 1zz. simple and easy. and will make more power than the 2zz swap.

lol, not sure why people feel the need to compare honda to toyotas when trying to do a swap.

Milky, it does sound like corollakid is talking about the 3SGTE... in which case he's thinking about doing the wrong swap if he doesn't feel like doing a "crazy swap"
