Question Need help on Corolla 1997 AE110 5A-FE A/T transaxle identification.

Hi,

I am in thailand. I want to know what is the model of my transaxle. I guess it should be A131L or A245E but not sure about that. I can't find any sticker on it and also anywhere else. I think it had been remove for the last re-paint. The car is second-hand.

I just done replacing the new CV (RH side). What I do is just drain the ATF using drain plug of the pan which has DII marked on. The AFT was drain out about 3200 ml.

There is no ATF drop from the drive shaft when I pulled it out from the differential so I guess there is no separate differential drain/refill plug on the transaxle. On the left side of the transmission case there is a mark "AISIN 4AK"

Here is the link for oil pan picture. This is the best view my camera can get.

if the image from another view can help please tell me I will try to take the shot.

Please answer for
1. What is the model (at least series if exact model can't be told) of my transaxle?
2. Does it have differential drain/fill plug?

Thank for your advice.

Sorry dude but most of the freqent memebers on this forum are American and we have diffrent engines and transaxels. So I'm not sure if any of the members here would know the answer to your question, but good luck.

does your car have an overdrive button? if it does then it should be a A245E if not then it is the A131L simple, also one is a 3 speed (A131L) and the other is a 4 speed (A245E)

Yes, the gear switch has overdrive button (plus a red shift-lock release button with Japanese text).

I am not sure about how many speed it was. For me, it is hard to get the gear changing point with my ear. I have no rpm gage on the instrument panel. I can only grab one change on 80 kmph.

When you say 3 speed do you mean counting with overdrive off right?

Thank you.

You have a 4 speed because of having overdrive.
