Dash vents in 2000 Corolla

Sometime back in the history of my car, a former owner replaced a couple of vents in my Corolla. He must have been near-sighted because he jammed a side vent into the left opening at the center of the dash. Likewise, he force-fitted the center vent into the driver's side vent hole.

I'd like to switch them back to their original positions but I am a bit of a rookie at this - do you have to remove the entire dash piece that holds the vent or can the vents be popped out from the front?

It might be helpful to remove the panels so that you can push the vents out from the back... otherwise, I use a small flat screwdriver on the edges to for them out.
