Aftermarket OEM style spoiler

Wondering if anyone in here has installed an OEM style spoiler on their car? I have a 2000 LE with the touring package that did not come with a spoiler, and I think one would significantly improve the look. However, I am a little hesitant because the paint and body on my car is close to mint condition. I know holes would have to be made to install it. Is it possible for a body shop to do it without any worries or make it look like it came from the factory? I know nothing about body work or if it would be an easy job or not. The spoilers I was looking at are sold on Ebay and are OEM style.

Why pay a body shop to just drill holes and screw in the spoiler? It took me all of 20 minutes to do. Get yourself a step drill bit and just follow the template or whatever comes with the spoiler to position the holes.

So is it a pretty simple job? When it comes to body work or drilling anything I am a bit ignorant. So I'm thinking the worst in that I might somehow ruin the shiny paintjob. If you can PM me detailed instructions and pics I might be motivated to do it one day

Follow the instructions and the template closely, and take your time. Get an assistant to help with other end of spoiler. Pretty easy job really.

Be careful with the exposed mounting bolts when fitting spoiler into holes (that's what got me)

Can't say on 3rd party, mine was OEM painted and ready to go.

I was too cheap to pay for a new one on ebay so i went to the junkyard and found an Integra with a white spoiler that would fit on my trunk (it hangs over a little bit but it looks awesome). I just positioned it using a ruler and felt marker that rubbed off easily. I then had a friend hold it in place while i drilled a large hole underneath and then put 3 self drilling screws into each side. I have seen a little bit of rusty water coming from under it after 2 years now and will use some silicone to seal it up. I would suggest you use silicone over the screws right away and around the spoilers mounting face before it is sealed onto your trunk. I would post pics of mine and how awesome it looks but i'm too lazy at the moment.

its not that difficult and its fun

Anybody with a spoiler or that has installed one got a picture of the inside of the trunk? I bought one off ebay and received it today. The holes that appear to be for a spoiler that are inside the trunk do not line up at all with it. Instead, the spoiler holes would have to be drilled pretty close to the side edges of the trunk. Also since I measured, it appears that one pair of holes would have to be drilled right in the part inside the trunk where the metal contacts the weatherstripping. I am hesitant on doing this work, especially if I have to alter the area where it keeps water from getting inside. If I cant find any pictures I am just going to bring it to a body shop.

Well I got it on. Decided to do it myself with some help from coworkers. Not too bad of a job. The spoiler came with 3 holes on each side so I used 2 instead, as the 3rd hole would have required me to drill directly over the area where it meets the weatherstripping. It feels pretty sturdy and looks awesome. Huge improvement. Worth every penny

Does not need a relay. The kit comes with a connector that lets you splice the spoiler wires to the wires for the center-mounted brake light. The entire job was actually pretty easy and I was stressing over nothing. There is some measuring and drilling required on the inside of the trunk, as the existing holes do not line up with the holes for the screws on the spoiler. You can use 3 screws on each end of the spoiler, but I am using 2, as the third hole would have required me to drill in a section inside the trunk that makes contact with the weatherstripping, and I did not want any issues with leaks.
