Battery terminal grease?

I've noticed on newer cars that they have this purple gel type grease on the terminals. Does anyone know what that gel/grease is called? My battery terminals have corrosion on them but i clean them once in a while.

Haynes manual actually recommends Vasoline petroleum jelly. Not kidding. Also, use a steel brush to clean the terminals and connectors first.

i dont know what its called SPECIFICALLY but you can usually find it at walmart, parts stores, etc. called Battery Terminal Protectant, or something of the sort. CRC sells it 12 OZ. aerosol cans.
i'm not sure what it is chemically but the standard trade name is battery terminal protectant.

The 'official' name of it is di-electric grease. There are a number of companies who make it. Wheel bearing grease works just as well however.

Yep the felt pads works very well....mine used to have corrosion but now it dont because i cleaned it and sand it and put grease on it and the felt pads....for couple of weeks now...no corrosion, all that did pay off.

Btw there was a small cracked hole next to the both of the battery terminals, so i have a leaked at the top where the terminals are which was why it gave me corrosion all over. but i guess using the felt pads absorbs those leak.
