Drain plug gasket sticking to oil pan

Changed the oil and filter for the first time by myself a few months ago.

After changing I realized the drain plug washer had stuck to the oil pan. Now I am a bit worried that it will be hard to remove from the pan, this time I will wear my glasses.

Would it not pop off pretty easily by tapping it lightly on the side?

should. if not use a screwdriver to pry it off. the oil pan is steel, the washer is Dead Soft Aluminum; you'll ruin the washer before you ruin the pan. if you do happen to ruin the drain plug gasket you can get a new one for CHEAP at ANY parts house.

No need to change it if its not leaking IMO. I've never had a problem with a leak from not changing a washer.

neither have i. but occasionally i'll wreak some accidental damage upon one to the point that it can no longer seal. thats when you need to replace it
