If you mean check Engine light you have a trouble code to be checked.

When that happened in my '02,(orange brake light always on) it was an indicator telling me my front brakes were extremely worn. If you don't know how to do brakes yourself, take your car to the shop soon and be ready to spend $40-50 for new ones. Easy fix!

It sounds to me like he's talking about the "-E" in the tachometer display that appears when the outside temperature sensor is not working correctly. It is just a convenience feature, like the clock.

-E could be the empty gas -E.

OP, post a pic so we know what the hell you're talking about.

I think he switched out his cluster and doesn't have the temperature sensor, which happened to my brother. He had a 1998 Corolla and switched his tach for a 01 S cluster. He didn't have a temp sensor which caused him to have a -E on the display where the temp is suppose to be.
