01 corolla s

i have a 99 corolla and ive been wanting to put the newer engine from the 01 corolla in it that is a vvti. i recently found out about the s version of the 01 model. is the engine different than the le and ce, or should i not worry about it because it is the same engine. how hard is putting a 01 engine in a 99? has anyone done it before? does it give alot better performance? and how much is the cost?

98-99 corolla: no VVTi, no MAF
00-02: VVTi introduced, MAF present
But all 98-02s have the 1zz-fe engine

the gearing is all the same. the manuals use a 3.7 final drive, auto is 2.9(?)
the only zz series trans that have different gearing is in the celicas and mr2 spyders. those range from 3.9 finals in the 5 spds to 4.5 finals in the 6 spds.
