Fog Light Corolla S 2001

Hi To all,

I'm new in this forum and i already like it so much. This time my concern is:

I would like to set the fog lights independent of the the high beam no matter if is in the low beam i just want to not have the high beam on to be able to turn on the fog lights. if one of you can help me to do that I will really appreciate.

Thanks

there is a number of ways you could do this. im actually surprised your car doesnt have a fog light toggle on the blinker/headlight switch. my 02 has one stock so it is on or off when i want it. but since you dont, you could go a few other ways. a way i have heard with things like halos is people want them on when the parking lights are on, so you can simply splice it into the parking lights power wire. you could do the same with the fog light, this way you will have fogs with parking lights, low beams, and high beams. saying that you dont care they are on all the time. another way is you could make your own switch inside the car to turn on the fog lights. you could splice a wire off of the fog lights power wire and run it through the engine compartment-thru the firewall-into the interior of the car. then just connect that wire to an aftermarket switch.

Sorry I wasn't too clear it has the fog light toggle on the blinker/headlight switch, but what i mean is i.e. if i have the low beam (one touch) light on i'm not able to turn on the fog lights. i must have the high beam(tow touch) on to be able to turn on the fog lights and there i can turn it on or off if i want. and that is what i don't want.

Whoever installed your fog lights did a terrible job. Fog lights are useless in conditions that warrant the use of high beams; high beams are useless (and detrimental) in conditions that warrant the use of fog lights.

Sadly, if it was installed that way at the factory or by the dealer at the time of original sale it may still be difficult to get the dealer to correct it under warranty, since the car is well beyond the 3/36 mark.

thats odd... i havent heard of that before. alarc is right it must be wired wrong if that is the stock toggle switch. cause my 02 lets me turn them on or off at any time. like when i pull in home too late at night i turn off all my lights including parking lights but leave my fogs so i can see my way so my parents dont see my headlights hahaha

The factory setup is:

Tail lights must be turned on to turn on fog lights.
Fog lights will be turned off when you turn on high beam.

01 S should have fog lights standard from factory. Fog lights should be easily installed on any 01 or 02 as they are already wired for them.

FWIW I also retrofitted 01 factory fogs into my 99 which never had fogs even as an option.

In conclusion, OP is either looking at an S with factory fogs but has electrical problems, or he has a one without factory fogs and the aftermarket installer botched the installation, which shouldn't need to happen if he indeed has an S.
