2001 Corolla LE 5 speed swap

Was considering doing a 5 speed swap with my 01 corolla but need some information.

how difficult is it? about how much would it cost if i got a shop to do it for me?

Mine is about $2700 with no shop hookups and doing everything myself. No shop in my area would touch such a job.

The actual swap could be done in 4 hours, assuming you have everything ready and everything perfectly executed. But with complications likely to pop up as you go, set aside two weekends. Cherry picker hoist is your friend, as is a right angle drill adapter.

And for you, source a complete engine wire harness and manual ECU from same year, or be prepared to wire in some big resistors to fake an auto for it. You likely have a 4spd auto and the ECU connectors are different from the manual.
