AUDIO upgrade

Hey guys longggg time no post due to life. Finally free and wanted to ask a idiotic question. I know that many Corollians have done HU upgrades with single DIN units to the stock factory location. I want to install a Clarion Nav and DVD pop out on the single DIN slot, however 2 things are preventing me 1) The aftermarket HU has a motorized screen which would block the air from vents on top.
2) The second is cost, a motorized screen unit costs about $600.

The question i had, was after searching around, i found that double DIN units are rather cheap. I was wondering can we take out the sunglass container on the bottom beneath the hvac controls to fit a DOUBLE DIN unit.

Lastly, a friend of mine who drives 1999 CE, like mine was wondering can he buy the OE cd player that came with car and install it, or is that not possible with the standard unit.

yeah man, I replaced my sunglasses tray thing with a double-din touch screen. It bolted right in perfectly!

yup. it has bracket u need to use it to mount ur dd and should fit perfect. get one with motorize adjustable screen cuz its really low and hard to see if u can adjust it higher

it would be easiest to mount on the bottom where the sunglasses holder is. i fear that the air vents behind the screen in heat could damage it. only problem on the bottom is depending on the screen size it might just cut off the bottom of your hvac controls. still usable just will make it more difficult to turn on heat, vents, etc.

i used to have a 01 rolla s and i put a double din dvd player in there, it fit np, but man i cant see it good tho, expecially the stick was in the way all the time, id recomend a pull out screen, also you can add the cd player to the stock tape deck, atm im looking for a stock tape deck/cd player from these corollas atm too, but i cant find one that dont cost over 140 bucks. id rather go after market for those prices, im looking for a regular cheap one, im putting it into my ae86 so no one will break my windows for it, like they did for my dvd player and subs and amps. id prefer not to do another sound system ever again. boom boom gets cops attn and also tweakers too. but best of luck with that system man.
