hi guys. i just bought a '99 Corolla (not sure which trim?) used. aside from having 160,000 miles it's in excellent running condition with minor cosmetic issues that i'm already working on.
one of my issues is the window motors on the driver door and the rear passenger door are sluggish. the windows go down quickly, but then when going up they stop after a certain distance, at which point I have to wait, then it goes a little up, then wait, a little more, until eventually i close the whole window.
does that mean I need to replace the motor? or as my dad is hoping for, is it something some grease/WD40 can take care of?
what kind of system do these windows use? i'm used to the motors with the gears that are very easy to replace...however my dad seems to think it's a much more complicated system with a bunch of "cables and levers." i'm taking off the door panel tomorrow so i guess i'll find out then.
lastly, if i need to buy a new motor/system, where can i go about doing that? in the past i've bought window motors from the junkyards but tried two today and neither had an 8th gen Corolla
thanks for the help!
