These are some pictures of my 99 corolla VE. All the tint and paint you see and the grill and lights are done by me and it was my first time doing them all so i just did it for the experience mostly. I put a random handicapped sticker on the gas tank because i had no where else to put it Just wanna know what you guys think, i might post some pictures of the interior if i can find any, its blue and read interior which i am currently converting to black and blue and its got blue LED's under the seats and a black light in the ceiling. If anybody has questions about the bumper or the grill or the fog lamps i installed just leave me a post here. I plan on making a DIY for making a custom shift knob for the A/T shifter over the weekend as well as a basic electronics guide to installing lights and sirens(my car has 3 sirens and 2 horns).
Post your custom rides if you have any
This is an old picture, i changed the wiper blades to black
Here it is with the fog lamps on
And here it is from the back, I'm thinking about blacking out the tail lights. Also that is a custom spoiler that i picked up from the junk yard off of a Acura/Integra and just screwed it in from inside the trunk. The third lamp on it works and it only cost me 40$ CND The window tint in the back window is a little crappy because i ran out near the bottom

Please don't black out the taillights! They're for your safety and the safety of others around you.
About the only semi-reasonable mod I've seen regarding painting the taillighs anything is to make the amber lenses red, which was written up at vamp.darkravers.net, which seems to be no more. Sadly, the Wayback Machine also fails.
I believe that there was a particular Testors paint used in that mod, and it seemed to give good results yet didn't interfere with the turn signal function very much -- certainly not as much as blacking out the taillights would.
Pick up some factory alloys if you happen to find a set. Those would look nice on your car. Yeah, take off the handicap sticker from the gas cap, too. Ebay has red lens paint that you could use to tint the amber part red. Check it out.
Yeah i have some glossy black paint i will be using to change the red rims to black. I did that as a project when i was back in school and we had to paint something. I just need to find a good way to remove the paint, i was thinking just a buffer disc but i dont have any at my house. As for the handicapped sticker i keep it on because my friend keeps the exact same one on his gas cap also and i do actually like it lol. I just finished painting my doors black and will post some picture up in a bit when they are done drying. Then later tonight i will be making my custom shifter and post some more pictures.

agreed. use paint or red vinyl for the tail-lights. Also, shave the trunk. it looks cleaner that way

OK. If you did a good job with the paint when you painted them red, there is no need to remove the paint. Just scuff it up with some 400 grit or finer sandpaper, wipe it down with rubbing alcohol or something, and spray away. For the record, gloss black doesn't look very good on steelies. I always use the DupliColor Wheel Paint. In black, it has a semi-gloss black look to it, and I think you would really like it. Here is a pic of my Honda CR-V with the rims painted black (don't mind my mom standing there Haha):

Shave the trunk? what do you mean by that?
Those black rims look pretty good on your CRV, also i did a not so great job painting them, i didnt have enough time to let the paint dry completely(i used 3$ rust paint) and its uneven and peeling in a few spots. Thats why i want to redo it completely and make it look decent. I have low gloss paint that is meant for metal so i'm going to prime it then give it a coat of glossy black but if it doesn't look that great ill do flat black most likely.
Sounds like you have a good plan. You could use a paint-stripping pad on an electric drill or something like that. Personally, I like paint somewhere between gloss black and flat black for wheels. Flat black just looks like faded primer. Semi-Gloss seems to come out the best, but like you said, you can always redo it if you don't like it. I would try the 400 grit sandpaper and "elbow grease" to get them ready first...

lol i'm sure it will take me a lot of elbow greese Ill get started on it tomorrow probly. I was also pondering whether i should paint the left side of my cars wheels black and the other side blue, because you never see both sides at the same time so nobody would be like "Why is one blue and one black" But i dont have any blue paint so ill do all black and see how it looks:P
