help, want double din radio in single din area.

Is there a way to double din the single din area? For example re route where the AC nozzlesto the storage area and therefor you can have a place to put a nice double din radio in the front area? I know you can easily double din the storage compartment area but that's not really the point since I don't want to look down. Anybody ever done this?? feedback would be appreciated! thx

you cant easily reroute where the ac/temperature controls are, they are based off of mechanical wires that will only travel a specific distance to make things open and shut for air. only way i have seen is to remove the storage and use that area instead

There was someone that installed a 7" monitor there for a CarPC project - basically capped off the air register there (too much of a hassle to reroute the vents) - had to custom fabricate a double DIN opening in the original trim panel. Because the panel is textured, it will look a bit off, unless you paint the rest of the trim to match.
