I have a 98LE, headlight will turn on automatically when I release the hand brake. Is there any way i can turn it off?
That would be the DRLs, although they use the low beams.

TOYOTA. From the Toyota technical service bulletin EL011-00 for specific models determine where the module is; either the DRL relay or the body ECU, connector number, pin #. Oct 6,2000.
Corolla 99/00 DRL relay D3 pin
Probably the same on the '98 as for the 99/00 (it worked on the 2001 for me). The wires for this are very near the passenger airbag; you may need to remove the glove compartment temporarily to get to them.
Note this also disables "Twilight Sentinel". If you're smarter than your car, this shouldn't be an issue.
Isn't there a fuse for the day time running lights? I've seen the empty fuse socket in my Honda. I'll be looking for the fuse in my '99 Solara Owner's Manual. I don't know if I want daytime running lights. The previous owner also put in a locking gas cap which I had to fumble with when I got gas for the first time today.
The owner's manual shows a fuse (#17) for the "DRL NO.2 5A" in the second engine compartment fuse box, the smaller one. DRL means Daytime Running Lights. I'll pull it and see if the automatic lights off feature still works.
Anyone know about this? The engine of the 99 Solara 6 is a 1MZ-FE.

Reason: additional info
there is a fuse for it but if you remove the drl fuse it completely disables your lights. the only way to disable it is grounding the power to the drl module or there are certain pins you can clip in the drl relay. i grounded my power wire so now i can turn on my parking lights and headlights manually whenever i want
Thanks for your reply, Iskate. I like your dashboard Jesus chicken. I'm from The Bronx BTW. I found the fuse and pulled it but put it back before I found out the result.
thanks 4 your reply.
Seems I won't change it, coz i afraid i will regret after the mod
btw, I have installed a HID kit, 8000k today
However, I dun satisfy because the white/blue light only comes when I switch to high beam, for normal and low beam, it has a brighter yellow halogen light, compare with the old stock one.
Question, wut can i do if i want both the low and high beam are the blue/white hid light?
Do i need to buy a whole kit or just change the bulbs is fine?

lol that jesus chicken is 100% custom right there... yeah before i knew anything about the car i tried pulling the fuse but it seemed to work out for the negative. i eventually wired my own switch to the fuse so i could cut the power to turn my lights off. worked well but it was a pain having to turn off 2 light switches whenever i left the car. only discovered this forum like 2 years later and found out the correct way to do it.

#1, if your not sure you will regret it, you can also wire a switch to the end of grounding the drl modules power wire. this way you can turn the drls on and off whenever you feel like. hide it decent enough and they wont even notice when inspecting your car. =) #2 with the HID kit... a lot of controversy over that. first of all, an 8000k will mostly be for the blue light/looks, the higher you go from 4300k the actual less light it will produce. by what your saying im assuming you have the 9004/H3 headlight.. im not too positive about the lighting of bi-xenon bulbs but be careful with that.. most HID bulbs have a warm-up delay in which a bi-xenon will hesitate before turning on the brights. very dangerous if it cuts the low beams out in this delay.
so did i get a wrong one? H4?
I asked somebody check my wire, they said the 12V of my HID socket is invert.
Therefore, hi and lo beam has exchanged
is that correct?
hmmmm elaborate on that not quite sure what your saying
There has a socket, it's like the socket on wall where we plug in electronic stuff, Connect the light bulb and the light system of the corolla
There is three "legs" in the socket
one is the hi beam, the next one is the lo beam, and the last one is the negative route. The mechanic said the socket of my aftermarket HID kit is invert. That's why the high and lo beam has exchange their place
Right now, my hi beam is HID light, but the lo beam is yellow light
what i want is the low beam is HID light, and the hi beam is yellow light
