air duct hose

would using an air duct hose for a cai affect anything with the air....i mean is it best to just use those chrome pipe rather than duct hoses or there is no difference at all if i use any of it between those two.

I'm not too sure on the science behind any of this but a cold air intake won't make a huge difference on a 110hp corolla engine, i think the piping is used to help cool the air but this could just be stuff i heard the wrong people saying. I think the piping it comes with looks really cool but you could always experiment and try it with duct hoses(do you have any pics of these hoses?)

Typically, ducting has a ribbed design all the way along it, to allow it to flex and bend etc. This makes it easy to route, but also disrupts the way the air flows. The air will flow a lot more freely with alloy or stainless piping due to the completely smooth design.

The performance difference between the two would be fairly minimal if using the ducting as a main induction pipe as opposed to using alloy or stainless, but the least disturbance to the flow path the better, so I reckon it's just better to spend a bit extra on getting the metal piping. Plus, as a bonus, metal piping looks awesome in the engine bay . Feel free to check out my CarDomain page to see the type of ducting I used (was reinforced with metal wire) and also to see the alloy piping I upgraded to.

Actully the 110 hp would be for the 93-97 corolla but for the 2001 corolla its actually 125 hp.Just trying to correct you there a little.

And the pics of the hoses? You can just google it up.

Actually the 93-97 has 2 engines.
  1. 1.6 4A-FE (105hp 93-95), (100hp 96-97)
  2. 1.8L 7A-FE (115hp 93-94), (105hp 95-97)

Just trying to correct you there (a little).

Those were the only two engines that were offered for sale officially in the North American market so that's what I listed.

In all fairness, it wasn't my fault that you didn't state that you were only talking about North American models. Next time someone tries to correct somebody else... at least word your post probably to avoid any confusion.
