-E on Tachometer?

Hey, i put in a aftermarket gauge set that i found at the junk yard into my car. It's pretty awesome with red LED's in it and it has a tach which my old one didnt(base model VE). The only concern i have is that it says -E underneath the tach, i didn't have this screen on the other one so i'm not sure what it means. Is this an extra option like outside air temperature? Would it be easy to install this option so i get a proper reading?

yes its for a outside air temp sensor. you need to go grab it from the vehicle. it will be on the core support, just below the hood latch on the hood latch support bar. you wont need to do any wiring either. all the 8th gens came prewired for them

must have came from a manual, one thing that drove me crazy was the automatic gauges, it just completely leaves out the tach. companies trying to make everyone lean away from the superior and exciting manual transmissions drives me crazy. like yeah lets just completely leave out that tach and see if people just forget what rpms are. anyway, yes the -e is the outside temperature gauge, since your car didnt come stock with it, im assuming it doesnt have the proper wiring or the sensor itself to read it.

What does it look like? I don't think i've noticed any wires dangling in the front of the hood area. I will take another look but i probly wont head back to the junk yard for a month or so. I usually take horns and sirens and small things without paying for them so i dont want them to remember who i am lol.

haha. iam unsure as to what the sensor looks like, but i have noticed one thing that i was never too positive what is that could likely be it. with your hood popped look right infront of your radiator by the hood latch. i noticed a wire that goes down and is connected into what appears to be a little sensor, it isnt attached to anything else and is just sitting infront of the radiator so i imagine it would be the outside temp. sensor, ill run outside and take a picture really quick

yeah some models like the 99-00 le's had an option for a white face guage. which is what i have now. ive had a black no tach, black with tach, and now the white with tach. it looks the best IMO. that and im not a big fan of all red. how ever i did snag a set of nice amber needles from a sentra ser specv that i will be swapping in here soon. the stock needles are a red/pinkish color.... meh.
