shorter runners for better mid to top end, larger throttle body, bigger plenum, less turbulent design (no ginormous welds in the runners), cooler air intake temps due to the high temp plastic not heat soaking like the aluminum one will.

its all around better. the only problem with swapping one on to an 8th gen, is it will slightly kink the upper rad hose. does not cut off flow at all. i ran like this all summer last year, in 90+ weather with ac on most of the time. never once went past normal operating temp. i did swap to a different radiator just because it bugged me.

yes, the intake manifold and throttle body must both come from a 00-02 celica gt, or a 03-05 corolla / matrix (non xrs) any of those years will have the drive by cable throttle body and matching manifold. the stock puny 98-02 tb will not fit at all on any of the newer black plastic manifolds. but trust me, you wont miss it at all.

What size tb do we have in our 8th gens? What size would the ones from a celica or '03 model corolla be?

iirc the 98-02 is 55mm at the opening, 48mm at the plate. i check on it here in a little bit. the celica's is 60 or 65mm opening. 58mm plate or there abouts.

yes, you can. i used the ones for the celica as the ports are in slight different locations on the tb and manifold. i would recommend doing the same as i did. because i know it works.
