changing the timing chain?????

i just bought a 2002 toyota corolla for my mom,and i was just wondering when should i have the timing chain changed out? it has 98,000 miles. Are there any known quirks or problems that crop up frequently with these cars. Any comments or advice you may have is welcome!!!

A timing chain should last the life of the engine as long as frequent oil changes are done.

it should be fine, but if you're worried then pull the valve cover and inspect it. turn the crank pulley to turn the engine to check the whole chain and all cam sprocket teeth.

The chain should outlast the car, no joke.

^^^ After the 7th gen Corollas (1993-1997), the 8th gens with the 1ZZ-FE engines started using chains.
