2002 Corolla LE, Would you pay $3000

Looking for a new car, had a 1993 Corolla with about 225K miles that had an engine problem used about 2qt oil every 600 miles, had to junk it when it started to run on three cylinders. What I want to know is an '02 with M/T and 187K miles worth $2500-$3000? What I'm worried about is having another Corolla with an oil consumption issue....I had a '90 Corolla that ran and drove great got rid of it for the '93 because the A/C didn't work

Thanks for the advice.

well the 8th generation corolla is notorious for burning oil. not completely positive whats the best solution for it. but idk about 3 grand with 187k. i have a 02 sport that had 130k and bluebook was 3k and i wouldnt even sell it for that high

Depends on the area - the 8th gens seem to have spiked in prices over the last couple of months. I've seen some 2001-2002 Corollas S/LE trims with 130K-150K easily priced at $5K-$6K retail (dealership). About $1K-$2K less for a private party sale.

Thanks for the input. I just found a '88 6th Gen made in Japan with M/T 163k Miles and one owner asking $800....I never had engine problems with my '90 hopefully this '88 will be the same. Sine I had to junk my '93 7th gen I've been driving an '86 Mercedes 560SEL with a crap load of problems and 10 MPG.

What do you guys think, is the '88 worth $800?
I don't know if it's true but, I heard the Japanese 6th gens are made better than the Canadian ones?

$800 for a solid runner is a good deal for any make or model IMO. If it needs work to be road worthy, I'd avoid it.

I'd spend $3000 for a high mileage 02 if it came with all the options and didnt have any major problems.

I'm picky about what I want so I know I'd probably have to spend a little more if I want to get it. My current LE has everything I was looking for, and I jumped at the purchase even tho I was living in another state.
