Good deal? 1999/$4,900/60k miles

I just looked at a 1999 Toyota Corolla. Very good condition. 1 owner. Registered in NY. Its got 60,000 miles on it and the dealer was asking for $5,700. We were able to work out a deal for $4,900.

I drove the car around a bit. Runs like a champ. No accidents reported on Carfax. Clean report.

Do you guys think this is a good deal? Is there anything I should look for specifically before purchasing this?

If its extremely clean in and out, and with the low miles, then sounds like a fair price. Is it CE? LE?

I would only consider paying that much if it was an LE model with all the options. But I'm also a very picky buyer. The LE version is the only one I like and would own.

I usually check the local Craigslist too see what people are asking for with similar cars. I'd say my '99 with 139K is probably worth $3K.

I recently bought an '02 LE with less than 38,000 for $4700.00 in Kansas City. (Rebuilt/salvage title). It drives great, no problems. First tank of gas got 37.29 mpg.

I'd say that's an awesome deal. Corollas keep their value better than most think. My 00 with 100k is valued around $6k according to my local body shop. Not bad considering I paid $9k for it, 6 or 7 years ago. BUY IT!

well, i personally think its just too much for a 99, if it was an 01/02 then it would be considerably a good price. all 98, 98 corollas ive found are within 2-4000. but im in Canada..... if that matters

if the dealer was willing to bargain down $800, tell him/her an even $1000 before you start signing anything. The economy is in the dumps, if you are willing to buy a car during these times, they will bargain more. They probably took it as a trade and gave $4000 or less to the last owner. Don't let them make money off of you.
