Buying oil and filter today. I thought I saw somewhere that some folks use the 2ZZ-GE oil filter on their 1ZZ-FE engines. Is this ok? Does it provide better flow and/or better filtering of the oil?
Ok. Which year and model oil filter do I get? While at Canadian Tire today, I tried comparing an 02 Celica GTS oil filter to my 01 Corolla CE and the rubber o-ring's had different diameters. Did I chose the wrong year and model car? I assumed the 02 Celica GTS has a 2ZZ engine. Perhaps I need to only look at the 03 or later XRS Corolla / Matrix?
What year and model of car should I look for an oil filter for that will fit my 01 Corolla (Corolla XRS, Matrix XRS, Celica GTS or GT?) ?
We have NAPA / UAP , Princess Auto etc and other auto parts stores here besides Canadian Tire.
You'll be able to run a longer oil change interval.
Been using YZZF1 for a few years. I can now run my oil for longer than a year. Hell I even use the same thing for the 5S Camry.

Anything that can go into a 05 Corolla XRS, 03 Matrix XRS or 00 Celica GT-S.
Anything that cross with PH7317.
Anything that cross with 90915-YZZF1. Or just buy this thing from a Toyota dealer. No ecotaxontax last I checked.

iirc the 2ZZ filter has a higher bypass pressure (oil pressure and rpm go together somewhat), so on a 1ZZ you'll have full filtration more of the time than you would with a 1ZZ filter. this is to cope with the 2ZZ being wound out alot and running higher RPM's, so this works to your 1ZZ's advantage.
I thought the filter number was hp-1003...that would fit those 8th gen corolla and those 2000 celicas and up.
Never mind.
Here's a list i found for you guys...hope it works...?
2zzge oil filters:
Fram PH4967, PH2951, PH4386, PH5166; Fram Toughguard TG496; Purolator L14477 (3.52" long); Purolator Proline PPL14477; Purolator L14476 (2.93" long); Toyota 90915-03001 or 90915-10004; Mobil M1-103; Wix 51396, 51366, 51394, 51395, 51625; K&N HP-1003 or HP-2009; AC PF10001, PF10002, PF1233, PF1234, PF13011, PF2052, PF53J00; Motorcraft EFL89, FL271, FL782, FL836, FL840
My parts guy at Toyota has always given me the longer filter. The same Toyota filter fits my 94 Corolla DX, 89 MR2 S/C, & 07 Matrix XR.

^ and leaving it that way!
The PH7317 has M20x1.5 thread
The YZZF1 has 3/4-16 thread.
I guess that's close enough....
I wouldn't settle for anything less than exact match.
