Anyone have info on Ultima struts?

I purchased four struts last week on eBay...listed individually one per auction...from the same seller. They were all listed as "KYB" and had a part number that is a GR2 number. When the struts arrived today they are all in "Ultima" boxes. Is Ultima related to KYB or is this guy just trying to screw me over? I opened one box and the strut is stamped "Ultima".

Looks like they shipped you the wrong struts or pulled a bait and switch.

KYB is a Japanese company that makes suspension.

Ultima from what I know is a cheapo Aussie brand.

Contact the seller about an exchange or a refund.

I have KYB shocks on my '70 Torino and really like them so I know they are good quality....plus I spent a couple of nights reading old threads on this forum and a Bimmer one looking to see who made good quality struts. I'm selling this car as soon as I get struts on it but I'm not wasting my time or money on junk struts! Pisses me off...I got laid off so selling a couple of cars is what will hopefully pay my bills...I don't have time to wait for him to refund my money and then wait for another set to ship.

The same time I posted on here I sent the seller this message:
Quote:
I purchased four struts from you. Each auction says they are KYB struts and gives a KYB part number. The struts I received are branded Ultima. These are not what I ordered...I specifically purchased your struts because they were listed as KYB. Did you ship me the wrong ones?
And his reply:

Quote:
I looked at my listings again, it did show KYB# as an industry reference no., but they are not made by KYB.

These are not low quality struts. We as a warehouse distributor have beening selling them across the States. These struts come with lifetime warranty.

It's not my intention to mislead anyone, it's jus that KYB# is widely used in this field. With lifetime warranty, I hope you can keep these struts. Let me know. Thanks
Now watch him try to stick me with shipping. I paid with a credit card through Paypal so I'll get my money back one way or the other.

Thanks for the reply.

That excuse is complete

Just leave him negative feedback then if he doesn't cooperate. Then get your money back through paypal.

No need to thank me, just hit the blue thanks button under my post.

EDIT: Good luck getting your money back or an exchange.

I agree 100% on the excuse. I sent him an email saying I wanted a 100% refund including shipping and a shipping number and he asked for my email address to send the number too...last I've heard.

I don't think it'll be a problem getting my money back because they were misrepresented and he owned up to that. Paypal has a buyer satisfaction/protection system but they say to go through eBay first. eBay's system requires you to try and work things out with the seller first and I think they want you to try for a week. They'll refund the money after that. I can also call my credit card company and ask them to reverse the charges. I know that'll work but it is actually against eBay's policy to skip their arbitration and go straight to the card company. So...I'll work with the guy for a 100% refund for a week then go through eBay...if that doesn't work I'm calling Visa. Either way I'll get it back. Just not as soon as I'd like. I've been through it before and it always sucks.
